Explore Aid embarked on a pivotal initiative, the Play for Health and Development (P4HD) project, aimed at promoting holistic child development in conflict-affected regions. The project harnesses the power of structured play to improve physical health, cognitive skills, emotional resilience, and social cohesion among children aged 3–12 years.
The inception meeting, held with key government stakeholders from the Ministries of Health, Education, and Women Affairs, marked the official launch of the P4HD project. The meeting served to present the project's objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes, while securing government buy-in and collaboration. Stakeholders discussed integration with existing health and education systems, identification of target communities, and monitoring frameworks.
Key outcomes: formal endorsement of the project by the Borno State Government; commitment to provide technical support and facilitate access to schools and primary health centers; formation of a multi-sectoral steering committee to oversee implementation. The P4HD project is now being rolled out in 15 communities, reaching over 2,000 children with regular play-based sessions facilitated by trained community volunteers.
