Child Friendly Space

Program Brief

Explore Aid's commitment to holistic child protection, development and well-being extends to the establishment of Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) in conflict-affected regions. Our CFS serves as a haven of safety, learning, and emotional support for children amidst adversity.

The space offers structured recreational activities, non-formal education, psychosocial support, and GBV case management. Trained facilitators and social workers provide age-appropriate care, identify vulnerable children, and link them to specialized services. Parents and caregivers are engaged through awareness sessions to strengthen community-based protection networks.

Since inception, the CFS has supported over 800 children (boys and girls) with regular attendance. Key achievements include: 90% of children showing improved emotional well-being; 150 children referred for specialized GBV case management; and establishment of parent support groups in three communities.

Duration: Ongoing since 2022
Location: Maiduguri, Borno State
Children reached: 800+
