Program Brief
In a bid to enhance early childhood development (ECD) practices and promote holistic growth among children in conflict-affected regions, Explore Aid conducted a comprehensive three-day training program. Funded by the DRPC, the training targeted caregivers, teachers, and community health workers to equip them with knowledge and skills in nurturing care, responsive parenting, and early learning stimulation.
The curriculum covered key areas: brain development in early years, nutrition and health, protection from violence, and play-based learning. Participants engaged in practical sessions, including creating low-cost learning materials and identifying children at risk of developmental delays. A total of 60 participants (45 female, 15 male) from 20 communities completed the training.
Key outcomes: participants demonstrated improved understanding of ECD principles; 80% reported applying new techniques in their daily work; follow-up visits showed enhanced caregiver-child interactions. The training also led to the formation of community ECD support groups, fostering peer learning and sustainability.
