Program Brief
In its ongoing commitment to promoting holistic well-being and addressing the unique needs of vulnerable populations, Explore Aid conducted a series of health facility-level sensitization sessions. These weekly sessions target caregivers, health workers, and community members to raise awareness about Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Child Protection.
The initiative covers primary health centers across Borno and Yobe states, providing practical information on identifying signs of abuse, referral pathways, and available support services. Sessions are interactive, using local languages and culturally appropriate materials to ensure maximum reach. Over 1,200 caregivers have been reached to date, with many reporting increased confidence in handling disclosures and referring survivors to appropriate care.
Key topics include: understanding consent, prevention of child marriage, dangers of female genital mutilation, and the importance of early prenatal care. The program also distributes informational leaflets and connects participants with local child protection networks.
